Happy Thanksgiving

It is hard to believe the Thanksgiving Holiday is just six days away. As I reflect on the blessings of this year I pause to say thank you for your willingness to volunteer at North Fayette Elementary School. I am forever grateful for every minute and hour you have given to NFES. Erma Bombeck said it best, "Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation's compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another." School Volunteer Mandated Reporter Training

Schools are now required by the State of Georgia to train all volunteers as mandated reporters of child abuse.

PTO Dolphin Volunteer Program

What is the goal?

To build a collaborative learning environment through active parent involvement.  

How does it work?

Check-in as a Volunteer: Log-in as a VOLUNTEER via the office computer and sign the “Volunteer Log” in your student’s classroom or media center. Submit a Volunteer Time Log to the teacher for off-site work.

Volunteer: Give your time by helping with school-wide events, PTO programs, or classroom activities (see list below or the volunteer online blog). Volunteer hours are tracked from September 1^st to March 30^th. 

Win a Class Party: The class with the most volunteer hours by Nov. 30th will win a gift card for the Holiday Party. The class with the most volunteer hours by March 30^th will win a gift card for the End-of-Year Party. 

Receive a Special Honor at the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast in April:

Volunteer of the Year Awards will be given to volunteers with the most hours per grade-level (PreK/K, 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th). NFES parents, grandparents, guardians, and adult siblings are eligible for an award.*

Community Partner Volunteer of the Year Award will be given to the community partner with the most hours. Community partners include local residents, NFES faculty/staff family members, representatives from local businesses and religious organizations. 

*Volunteers are only eligible for one award per school year. PTO Board Members and Committee Chairpersons are exempt from this award.

Happy New Year

Wow…I cannot believe the New Year is here! We have had a great school year so far and I am sure the best is yet to come.

Your presence in the school in 2011 not only demonstrated support for the teachers, but also sent a message to the students...Education Matters! As we proceed into 2012, let us continue our spirit of volunteerism. There are many opportunities to volunteer including helping teachers with projects, lending a hand with the Saturday Academy, and working with students to prepare for upcoming standardized testing.
